A lot charlotte basketball true natives and guru's remember names like Junior Burrough, Demarco Johnson, Curtis Withers, and Jason Parker. We are a group of those natives and were here to tell you first that Freshman 6'5 Kennedy Meeks at West Charlotte High School may fit the mold of some of charlotte High School legends. At 6'5 14 years of age and a size 17 shoe he will be special. Already with good footwork and excellent hands this kids touch around the basket and shooting skills are on track even down to the interior passing and basketball IQ. With time and growth Charlotte will here about Kennedy Meeks for awhile and were telling you first.......

Many know that Elite75 Prep last year help direct the 1st Annual KnoxVeags Heat Invitational at the University of Tennessee. Last year there were over 125 boy teams that played in the successful event. After talking with other directors the decision to add a three age group field (14u,15u, 16u)  with 32 girls teams will be added this year....Watch out!!!

We checked in today with Keith Stevens, director of the Nike DTLR Hoops Festival in DC. This 2nd Annual Holiday Tournament will be held at Wise High School on December 12th. We just found out that West Charlotte High School will be faced up against Bishop O'Connell on that Saturday at 6pm. It should be a nice match-up between guards JT Terrell and Jacoby Davis of West Charlotte High School and Kendall Marshall and Zelmico Harmon of Bishop O'Connell. Also national players such as Larry Savage will be suited for O'Connell.

This afternoon we had the pleasure of making a prep school stop at Evelyn Mack Academy. New Coach Will Spearow had told us of all his new comings, but we were not expecting what we would find. Coach Spearow had about nine mid-majors ballers on the floor and there were very exciting to watch. Stay tuned for an update on the team. We will be back next week to check them out again.

Tonight we just got the word that 6'7 SF Akil Mitchell (Charlotte Christian, Charlotte NC) who ran with Team United this summer has officially committed to Tony Bennett and staff at the University of Virginia. Congrats to the Mitchell family for getting one in the ACC.

This is what many fans were saying at the Waddell High School and Mallard Creek game on Tuesday. We will tell you now. Mallard Creek's 2010 6'1 PG/SG Rodney Cobia put on a 24 pt show with his young Mallard Creek supporting cast. With an array of shots and monster dunks Cobia tried to hold off the run of Waddell High School. With Jervon Pressley out for two games it was the sophomore 6'2 SG Jarvis Haywood with 25 pt's and junior 6'7 SF Tony Mitton with 12pt's that caused Mallard Creek to fall short. With Menton in foul trouble most of the game, it was the youngster Jarvis Haywood who was simply incredible, but it was Menton's twelve fourth quarter points and two major dunks that turned to game not to mention his two free throws with nine seconds left to put them up by two. Not to mention Mallard Creek's 6'6 sophmore Dominique Williams added 19 and will not be to bad in the future.

WADDELL 67, MALLARD CREEK 65

Was able to catch a quick look today at Evelyn Mack Acad and Carolina Tech. Two area prep schools on the rise. We were only able to catch the first half but we got to see some real action. The mid to high major guard 6'1 post graduate Calvin Newell from Philly did  a good job for the Mack team controlling the tempo also did 6'4 Isaiah Stokley from New York. We also got many of the Carolina Tech players playing on a high level especially a post grad shooter that landed at the school by way of Indiana (Lawrence North High School) and a crafty post grad guard from South Carolina.

Tonight we got to go over and take a quick peek at the Southern Carolina Prep School team. Recently they played Oak Hill this past Saturday and only lost to the power house by in the twenty's. Leading the charge was Post Grad- JayRon Adams (Zinc) and 2010 JaTerell Murray. Their guard Post Grad- Donte (Andrew) Clark was out with an illness. Their nightly practice was pretty intense. They have plenty of size and plenty of scorers. We can not wait for this weekend when we will watch them in action against another in town prep school (Evelyn Mack) play on Saturday November 14th. We will list SCP roster this week in the baseline section.

We heard from our Baltimore Maryland connect Dewayne Wise that Freshman Dequan Cook is at it again. In September Cook a freshman at St. Francis in Baltimore made a court statement at the Elite 75 Prep Showcase. We heard today he is doing the same thing at the Pangos Fresh/Soph event in Philly this weekend. He made the Top 20 game and racked up huge numbers all weekend.

Who is that kid?
6'1 PG/SG Rodney Cobia (Mallard Creek High)

Busy tonight doing area reports and we missed Vance High School opener against Harding High School. We have gotten many calls already that is was not a disappointment. With one of the nations top 2011 point guards 6'0 Marquise Rankin still a little hampered with a groin injury, Vance High 2010 6'2 SG Christian Farmer chipped in and carried some of the load, but we heard when Rankin did hit the floor the general did what we does, anything and everything he wants too. Vance was victorious tonight's opener.

Can West Charlotte High school go into the Nation's Capital and mingle with Kendal Marshall and crew from Bishop O'Connell. Can J.T. Terrell direct the battle and bring home a victory for the Lions or can Kendall Marshall hold down the home team and with stand the fight. We and many other scouts and college coaches will be front row to see these future ACC standouts go at it.

After last's weeks performance from Mr. John Wall against UNC I thought it could not get better, I don't know why I thought that the 2006 Elite 75 Prep High School Camp standout would stop putting on shows. I should have known. Last night show against UCONN was simply outstanding. Problem is I think there will be much more in store for us from the "Great Wall"

This is already turning out to be a great basketball year. Just this week was one of the greatest week of basketball to watch. Sitting front row to watch USC South Carolina defeat #1 Kentucky and UNC Charlotte beating #16 Temple was unreal
